It started as a failed fishing trip, On a sunny Saturday in 1974, a few mates with their rods and eskies filled with beer found a flat rock to cast a line off the East Point cliffs that fringe Darwin's westernmost point. Yet as they sat, drank and chatted, their lines remained slack. "We didn't catch any fish," Beat Erismann recalls. "But then the sun set as we sank a few tinnies and we said th...

I'm really looking forward to the opening. Not long now for the first stage...
Stage? It’s taken 6 years and they can only stager the opening?
@@DroneKingsInDarwin Yep. First is Aug 29, another in Sept-Oct, and more after that. Probably the bulk will be the August one (includes the bridge, skydeck, bikeway, Miller Park, and Casino, hotel, etc), but "The Landing riverfront public open-space precinct", Skydeck restaurants and bars, and some restaurants on level 4 won't be until the second stage. Then a bunch of restaurants etc in later stages.
Very nice always so clean and Pristine ❤😃✌🏼
My goodness Brad, this is monumental changes!!. You must be amazed at all these humungous growth cascades; far more than a simple spurt. I would have a major problem correlating Southbank to what I remember (circa 2016?) 😲
Didnt quite see¿?
Wow idk the 2032 Olympics are going to be there that cool 😎 ❤✌🏼
One of the many venues to host the Olympics in 2032.
I like the decision to do a tilt shift look on this. Make the traffic look cool.
Thanks for noticing. Wasn’t sure if anyone would notice it.
Hi Brad, Around 2010~ish I had the pleasure of visiting my youngest and her hubby when they lived in Cleveland, Brisbane. We went in to Brissie for a day, mainly to show me around. My favourite area is Southbank, so we went on a cat, but extended the ride all the way downstream. On the way back we sat at the very back; where those gorgeous motors roared into full flight. Magnificent!, and they I think can only do that there (downstream, away from the city). 😃
Wow the traffic is pretty steady 🤣✌🏼
Early morning commute to work for those on opposite sides of the river.
That doesn't look as bad as i imagined. I thought there would be more cliffs we could fall down off lol
It does have a few steep drops towards the top but the camera does not pick them up.
That doesn't look as bad as i imagined. I thought there would be more cliffs we could fall down off lol
Thanks for watching
Must be like being inside of a Pinball machine standing next to them 🤣😹
That’s a good video idea. I’ll see if I can do it.
I just never really knew what these frankly bizarre looking things were for, so at least this explained. 👏✊👌
I didn’t either until I researched this. They look great at night with the lights in them.
cool
Very much so.
How long were you there? Looks like a while!
Wasn’t long. 8 minutes per location. Trying out the new ReeLapse app. Seemed to work well.
❤🎉
😊❤ this feels like as if though it belongs at the very end of some rather special movie 🎉
Thanks Brad. Isn't it interesting to see how much more we can find to explore, in the same location?.
Southbank is full of surprises.
Very beautiful Brad luv the music 🎶 ❤
Glad you like it!
Anything to have a beer!
Beers. Beers. Beers. Beers. 🍺
That was great.
Wow that is a deep fog 🌫️ brad ❤
Was a very grey day.
😅 definitely not been thinking it was 'whoever stares at a wall - with a blank expression - for the longest amount of time without moving wins a grand prize' or something along those lines 😂 and yes, I do often wonder how my brain operates🤣
In all honesty, I found that very wholesome, even with all those adversities you mentioned that they had to overcome in order to be who they really are.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I want to get into more of these types of videos.
no worries@@DroneKingsInDarwin 😉🔥😎
That’s cool 😎 cheers 🍻
Thanks Gina. Trying to find more of these stories to make into videos. Got an idea for the next one. 🍺
No sunshine ☀️ today 😮❤
Would you believe not a a cloud in the sky now at 1pm.
Hope your wearing your sunglasses. Cheers mate 🦘🍷🇦🇺
Ha. I actually did this morning.
My goodness, it actually is a bit of a wonder to me how people can still see through such heavy fog; no way would I likely be brave enough to go outside when that happens to be all around me.
Could see a bit down the road but up high was a bit thick.
yeah@@DroneKingsInDarwin bet that it definitely was indeed
Heavy fog in Brisbane to finish the week.
Currently got some sunshine up here at my place.
wonder if you can see above it in mt cootha
Probably can now but not sure about earlier.
Was a bit overcast at my place this morning but not as bad as the city.
hmmm@@DroneKingsInDarwin quite fortunate
Very beautiful 💋🐈⬛💜
And so close to the city.
Dear GOD! I am soooo homesick!! Miss Darwin SOOOOOOO MUCH!!
You and me both!
Need to get my butt into the city a bit more i do think.😊😅😂
Actually am planning on making Victoria Park my next destination for the very next time I head off into the city.
You should. So much amazing places to visit here
@@Enthusiastic-Trainspotter-BNEVictoria park does look like an interesting place to walk around now. They are building something new along Herston road but I couldn’t see the signage for what it is.
hmmm@@DroneKingsInDarwin makes me curious about what they could be doing there
Ahh yes, first heard about this over on the @BrisbaneChannel when it was first uploaded, and to think only on April 1st was i actually in Queen Street Mall & forgot all about this. 😅🤣😂
What a lovely mall so pristine ❤🛍️✌🏼
It is when it’s at the start of the day. Unfortunately this is not always the case at Casi Square.
Nice one. First time I've heard your voice on the channel, do you think you'll do more like this? I'm hoping to one day do a video on the making of these doors with Mace. Thanks for the link, too!
I have been wanting to do voiceovers for a while but not been set up for it. I will do them now often now as I am finding topics to present.
Hi Brad, Christmas 2022 I see. When up there that year (August) I didn't get a good loook around Casuarina, so many thanks for your video. Do you guys miss the place at all?. 🥰
Awesome, Spectacular & our RAAF Pilots very talented (we are all in safe hands)....but if this Growler 18G had have shown it's true capability & speed at such low altitudes through Brisbane......most glass in the buildings would have been shattered & a lot of burst ear drums in the spectators 😊😊
So true. I have been in Darwin when they take off and it’s awesome. Pitch Black 2022 Open Day | Darwin ua-cam.com/video/byoarr2RiDI/v-deo.html
Omg they are so cute 🚪 are they for the mice 🐭 so they can stay safe from predators and I very much enjoyed you voice over 👍🏼❤
No, I feel like I got a install a bunch of tiny doors around my house just to keep people guessing
I feel like as if though I might have seen something like this some certain time ago at a place near me, but I cannot remember it very well.
Be cool to know if one exists in Brisbane so I can visit. Only place I have found one similar in Queensland is a place called Charlie’s Hill at Burdekin ua-cam.com/video/e7vXcufINyU/v-deo.htmlsi=mq0Oc3C3qWGDmklO
saw there in the description box of that video that has the place Toorbul mentioned@@DroneKingsInDarwin that place is actually a 25 - 35 mins or so drive from my place, been there a number of times, so I would not be flabbergasted if that was what I had been thinking about in my original comment above
Just found it. Toorbul had a radar station number 210.
wow@@DroneKingsInDarwin sounds epic
My father survived Tracey.
Try Cat 5 with winds in excess of 300KPH
Definitely scary. Have you been in one like that?
@@DroneKingsInDarwin That was the unofficial recordings aboard HMAS Arrow in Darwin Harbour during Tracy before the recording gear stopped when we lost our mast, and then proceeded to sink up against Stokes Hill Wharf. Lost 2 great mates that night aboard Arrow. May have been almost 50 years ago now, but it will remain fresh in our minds every day
Lovely video ❤
Brad thanks for all your various areas you cover in your videos. But they may be 'snippets' but still carry interesting content all done very nicely and always professionally. 🤠
